Training Plans Take no Prisoners
It was all going beautifully well.
Too well.
I ran all over Christmas. I tend to do that anyway, but I dutifully carried on with my training plan to the letter.
I came back after Christmas, added a few more strength sessions to my week and first week of Jan? I was Rocky, bounding up the steps, air punching as I went, smashing my pacing targets and feeling STRONG.
And then someone coughed in my general direction… and I’ve barely moved in 5 days.
I’m trying to not think about how long it takes muscles to atrophy.
I’m trying not to think about all the things I should have done in those 5 days.
I’m trying not to panic.
Things I DO know:
That in a few days I’ll be back on my feet and sure, it may take a few runs to get back up to where I was, but that’s what makes our bodies so incredible - the fact that they can.
That there’s still plenty of time to crack on with the plan once I’m feeling better.
That trying to get back in and do too much too soon will do me no favours (this one, easier said than done. I’ve met me).
So that’s it… I’m still here, just with toilet roll and cough mixture.
