I work with small businesses and charities who care deeply about their people, but are completely fed up with the amount of headspace people problems are taking up.
I'm an HR consultant with a background in Social Anthropology, which probably explains why I'm so fascinated by the strange things humans do when you put them together in a workplace.
I've always thought it was odd that we leave school knowing about Bunsen burner safety and the Battle of Hastings, but with absolutely no idea how to tell someone their behaviour is driving everyone else up the wall.
And yet, here we are, running businesses and managing people, apparently supposed to know what we're doing.
I like getting to know how a business really works, rather than just what the handbook says should be happening. I'll ask awkward questions when they need asking, tell you when I think you're making life harder for yourself and help you work out what to do next.
