A Winters Tale

Back in the day, I used to do my long training runs listening to audio books.

In fact, Michael McIntyre has a lot to answer for - if you happened to be in the Manchester area circa 2013-14 and happened upon a running person looking like she was having so much of a good time on her own that you'd be inclined to cross to the other side of the road... that may well have been me.

But years have rolled on and I have dropped the audio book whilst running habit... until recently.

Faced with long, wet and muddy runs, I decided to go back to Audible and listen to a story.

An actual story.

I tend to listen to podcasts or audio books on non-fiction-y type stuff, because that felt more productive.

But when it comes to staring down multiple hours on your feet with no one to talk to and a "just get it done" mindset, I figured, what the heck. Let's get a storybook!

So I did - and you know what?

Flipping LOVED it!

Total game changer.

I'm a book down, and this Saturday on my long run, started another.

And you know what?

I can't WAIT for next long run day so I can pick it back up again!

So this is a hurrah for audio books, and letting my mind wander down alternative routes whilst my legs keep ploughing on forwards.

I promise it'll be the BEST thing you do today!
